The Bathroom: Have vs. Want

We are settling into a new, more modern apartment - slooowwwllly but surely! Here's my current trajectory for things we have and the things we want. I think the bathroom is the very easiest room to "get done", altho we have said we're working on things as we can and not room-specificly (i.e. not only working on the bathroom until it is done, but rather making improvements everywhere as time and $$ permit).

First, the beautiful things we currently have! It's sort of a 'happy modern' deal with white, pops of color, modern shapes and finishes, and hopefully no clutter *wink wink nudge nudge* From top right working down and around clockwise:
  • Oppenhiemer Over-the-Door Hook ($14 @ Urban Outfitters) = basically the cheapest Eames Hang it All knock off I have found
  • TOFTBO Bathmat ($10 @ Ikea) = really soft, absorbant, and in a pretty color!
  • LOSJÖN Soap Dispenser ($4 @ Ikea) = I love how modern and fun this is, plus it's really easy to use which definitely adds to how cute it is :D
  • Kate Spade New York for Bed Bath & Beyond Shower Curtain = sadly already discontinued, but I adore this because it has a lot of white space but lots of little bursts of color, too!

NOW the things I want! The first two are potential DIY projects to boot, which is fun.
  • Planned cabinet DIY modeled after the new Ikea OLOFSTORP wall cabinet (pictured) to go on the wall behind the toilet. I'm thinking more of a white and wood finish, similar to #4
  • Hand towel holder DIY = this is just a brass rod folded! I have no idea how much this would be unless I checked at a store, but let's hope less than $10
  • Brite Swing Lid Can ($13 @ The Container Store) = this is going to make everything just so much nicer to have 'hidden' bathroom trash. No one wants to look at used Q-Tips, etc.
  • Modern Two-Tone Toilet Paper Holder ($60 @ West Elm) = This is ridiculous and unneccsary because we have a toilet paper holder (on the wall) but I feel like the $ it would take to purchase a vase/basket/etc. to hold toilet paper would be put to better use by purchasing this weird, magical bathroom toilet paper sculpture that I could keep with me and lug from house to house for years to come

Total Cost = however long it takes to make a cabinet + $133

That seems like a reasonable and totally doable suggestion, yes? Yes!

Check back soon and hopefully I will have photos of our DIY projects
*evil laughter* *rubbing hands together*
